She was that kind of lady. I am so pleased that I have one of those machines! I became interested in landscape quilting from reading her book and her simple instructions and I make many of my own clothes. I knew how to sew but picked up a few tips along the way. Nancy was an icon in the quilting word and will also be remembered for her great attitude and quilting ability, she shared so much expertise with everyone. I learned so much from her. She is missed. I would love to read the new book, continuing the story. I am so sorry that she has passed; she was like a friend I saw every week, and I learned so much from her over the years. I heard of her passing and felt the loss even though I never met her. I became a better seamstress as did my relatives because of her shows. Being a self-taught seamstress, I learned from Nancys expertise while watching years of Sewing with Nancy on PBS. I still use many of the sewing shortcuts that were taught on the show. She is missed. Update I am anxious to read the new book and keep on Sewing With Nancy. I finished reading Seams Unlikely about a month ago and would take the book with me on trips and when I had different appointments. She will forever be missed by those whose lives she touched! I miss her, but still watch her videos on PBS. Well I am just starting to teach myself how to quilt and recently found Sewing With Nancy on PBS. Sewing with Nancy has been a part of my life since 1989, when my mother got me started watching while she was visiting. I loved her book Seams Unlikely. Her positive attitude and teaching abilities were an inspiration. So nice to have someone so possitive. I have learned a great deal from Nancys show, tutorials, and books and use her notions to simplify sewing. At 66, Keith Richards' continued survival is a source of widespread bafflement. I have reread her book, Seams Unlikely. I even used some things for a Sunday School lesson. Miss her! trip specially to see her shop in New Berlin many years ago when it was the first building she started. I have read her book which was wonderful, her life helps others with their life. I enjoy all her teaching techniques, from my DVDs, templates & books. when the grandchildren were so young. However, upon reading Seams Unlikely, I felt an even closer connection to Nancy. I grew up watching Nancy see on TV. I have faithfully enjoyed Sewing With Nancy on Saturday mornings for years and am still watching. RIP Nancy. I read the first book and would love to read (own) the second. Her sewing tips have been helpful, but her gentle soul was even more engaging. I learned to sew when I was very young, some 50 years ago. Am hoping her books are in every school and library as an incentive for everyone to learn the importance of knowing how to sew.
